Stage Kat Auditions

  • North End Studios 294 North Winooski Avenue Burlington, VT, 05401 United States (map)

Green Mountain Cabaret is expanding their talented group of performers again, and we want YOU to join us.

GMnC will be holding open auditions on Saturday December 15th from 11pm to 1pm, to cast the newest stage kats (apprentices) in our troupe.

-Please bring clothing you can move in. (yoga gear works best, no jeans)

-If you would like to dance in heels we encourage you to bring them, but they are not necessary

-Have an idea of your schedule for the next few months-all stage kats are required to be available for at least 2 months out of every season-this means being at tech rehearsals and show dates!!

-Remember to have fun and ask questions!

*Registration opens at 11am sharp

*Warm up to follow at 11:15am

To better acclimate those who do not know, here is the definition of a Stage Kat:

An apprentice (aka. Stage Kat/Kitten) is a person who is either new to the group, new to burlesque, and/or is not quite ready to perform yet but hopes to get more comfortable with their body and do so in the future.

An apprentice's job during shows is to act as a stage hand, picking up the clothing after dances and setting up props and mics as needed, all while getting to wear fun burlesque-style clothing. The goal for an apprentice is to make sure GMnC is the right fit for them and to eventually move up to troupe. When comfortable, an apprentice will be asked to be stage tested in a group number or solo in a show to see if they are ready to move up in the troupe.

You can also check out for more information on how a Stage Kat is asked to act.
