Mission

The Green Mountain Cabaret strives to showcase quality performances and events that highlight burlesque dance as a notable form of artistic expression. We are committed to fostering a vibrant and sustainable Vermont-based artistic community that nurtures diverse styles of performance, especially within the Nightlife Arts. We aim to exemplify the rich tapestry of creative expression that burlesque offers, with a focus on neo-burlesque as character-driven narrative, political commentary, satire and comedy, and an inclusive space for performers and audiences alike to celebrate body positivity and empowerment for the marginalized. To this end Green Mountain Cabaret produces shows, runs a burlesque dance troupe, and facilitates education and performances.

History

Green Mountain Cabaret was founded by the "Kryptonite to Clothing," Alexa Luthor. Since 2012, the cabaret and its troupe, the Sugar Shakers, have been bringing burlesque into the 21st century with a flash of legs, lyrics, and laughs while GMnC ensures the fun happens all through a body liberation lens that highlights consent.
